BassLessons.com Scholarships Awarded / Fall
Scholarship Applications Now Being Accepted - Jewel
Publications / BassLessons.com
Spring 2002
DALLAS, TEXAS. The first
BassLessons.com Scholarships were awarded to
Tyree Lindsey and Ben Drake, both of the
jazz department at the University of Texas at
Arlington. Each player received $100.
The scholarship is funded by
Jewel Publications, publisher of Essential Music
Theory For Electric Bass, and also sponsors a
network of bass sites that include basslinks.com,
electricbass.com, basslessons.com, and
acousticbass.com. The award is also presented
in memory of Curtis Winter, a student of book author
and web developer Robby Garner.
The next award of $500 will be
given away to a single recipient in the Fall 2002.
Applicants must send a 3-song tape or cd no longer
than 5 minutes in length, along with academic plans
and professional goals to Jewel Publications.
All submissions are due by
November 30, 2002. Applicants must be enrolled
in an accredited university in the fall of 2002, and
double on electric and acoustic bass.
